What you need to know about Norwegian school holidays

The whole country is divided into separate administrative-territorial units – fylke (county). Fylke, in turn, are divided into municipalities. They have pretty broad powers.

Each county publishes a waybill for the academic year. It indicates the dates of the beginning and end of school vacations, holidays and days off. Municipalities can adjust and correct it to suit their needs.

Schools draw up a schedule based on the recommendations of the municipalities. They have the right to change it, but try to stick to the official schedule. Therefore, check the vacation schedule in the school you are interested in.
