School holidays in Bulgaria 2022-2023
The Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria has published the dates of school holidays for 2022-2023. As always, there will be short autumn and spring breaks, and the length of Easter holidays will depend on the class. The date of graduation and the start of summer vacation also depends on the class.
- First day of school: September 15, 2022;
- Autumn holidays 2022: from October 1 to November 3;
- Christmas (New Year) holidays: from December 24, 2022 to January 2, 2023;
- Spring holidays 2023: February 1st to 5th;
- Easter holidays for grades 1-11: from 8 to 17 April 2023;
- Easter holidays for 12th grade: from 12 to 17 April 2023;
- Summer holidays for grades 1-3: from June 1 to September 14;
- Summer holidays for grades 4-6: from June 16 to September 14;
- Summer holidays for grades 5 and 6 of sports schools: from August 1 to September 14;
- Summer holidays for grades 7-11: from July 1 to September 14.
- Last day of school for 12th grade: May 12th.
IMPORTANT!
Students in vocational grades 10-11 or dual studies will have 2 or 4 internships between July 1 and August 31. Check with the leaders or at your school for dates.
Be sure to check the study schedule with your school. In some cases it may change. The above dates are subject to change by both school leaders and the Ministry of Education.
Additional days off for holidays
Like schoolchildren in other countries, students in Bulgarian schools will have days off for the public holidays. Some of them will be on vacation. Below is a list of official public holidays in Bulgaria when schools will be closed.
Holidays in 2022:
- September 22, 2022 – Independence Day;
- November 1, 2022 – Day of People’s Awakeners;
- December 24, 2022 – Christmas Eve;
- December 25, 2022 – Christmas;
- December 26, 2022 – 2nd day of Christmas;
- December 27, 2022 – Christmas Day.
Holidays in 2023:
- January 1, 2023 – New Year;
- January 2, 2023 – 2nd day of the New Year;
- March 3, 2023 – Day of the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke;
- April 14, 2023 – Orthodox Good Friday;
- April 15, 2023 – Orthodox Easter Saturday;
- April 16, 2023 – Orthodox Easter Sunday;
- April 17, 2023 – Orthodox Easter Monday;
- May 1, 2023 – Labor Day;
- May 6, 2023 – St. George’s Day / Army Day;
- May 8, 2023 – Feast of St. George;
- May 24, 2023 – Culture and Literacy Day.
