School holidays in Mexico 2022-2023
The dates of school holidays in Mexico are the same regardless of the territory. They are determined shortly before or during the summer holidays. After that, the school calendar is published on the State Portal of Mexico.
School holidays in Mexico 2022-2023 approved by the Secretariat of Public Education:
- Summer holidays 2022: from Wednesday 29 July to Sunday 28 August;
- Christmas holidays 2022: from Monday 19 December to Friday 30 December;
- Spring holidays 2023: Monday 3 April to Friday 14 April;
- Summer holidays 2023: from Thursday 27 July (end date to be determined).
Other weekends in Mexican schools 2022-2023
Except for school vacations, Mexican schools are also closed on public holidays. There are 12 official public holidays in Mexico. In the 2022-2023 academic year, 4 of them fall on vacations. The remaining 8 are for study periods. Schoolchildren in Mexico will have a day off these days.
List of holidays when Mexican schools are closed and lessons are not held:
- September 16, 2022 – Independence Day;
- November 21, 2022 – Revolution Day;
- December 12, 2022 – Day of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe;
- January 1, 2023 – New Year;
- January 6, 2023 – Three Holy Kings;
- March 21, 2023 – Benito Juarez’s birthday;
- May 1, 2023 – Labor Day;
- May 5, 2023 – Cinco de Mayo (Day of the Battle of Puebla).
