What you need to know about school holidays in Austria 2022
Schoolchildren in Austria have six rest periods throughout the year. These are three vacations, two religious holidays and a semester break. In addition to them, schools in Austria are closed on public holidays.
In some cases, schools may determine additional days off on their own. This is governed by section 2, paragraph 5, of the School Time Act with amendments, and section 3, paragraph 2, of the Compulsory School Time Act with amendments. According to them, in addition to the regular school holidays in Vorarlberg, there are four additional days of rest.
In addition to regular holidays, schoolchildren have a rest during national (legal) holidays. You can find a list of them at the end of the article. Also in Austria there are days of the patron saint. These are not common national holidays, they are celebrated in separate lands.
