Ligo (Midsummer Night) is an official public holiday in Latvia. It has its roots in pagan times. On the night of June 23-24, no one sleeps, but celebrates. According to tradition, those who celebrate Ligo must meet the dawn.

  • 20/11/2023 – Celebration of the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia.

The day of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia is timed to November 18, 1918. On this day, the Act of Independence was proclaimed. In 2023, the celebration has been moved to Monday, November 20, as November 18 falls on a Saturday.
