Schools in Italy are located in 21 regions. This is Abruzzo, Basilicata, Bolzano, Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, Calabria, Campaign, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Puglia, Piedmont, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Trentino, Umbria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna.

Each region has a different start and end date for school holidays in Italy 2021. This is done due to different weather conditions and climates. The Italian government takes care of children. They choose the vacation schedule so that they do not harm their health.

The dates of school holidays in Italy are different in all provinces. But there are national holidays on which schools are closed. They are the same for all regions and cities of Italy. Here is a list of national holidays for 2021:

  • New Year – January 1, 2021;
  • Epiphany – January 6, 2021;
  • Easter – April 4, 2021;
  • Easter Monday – April 5, 2021;
  • Liberation Day – April 25, 2021;
  • Labor Day – May 1, 2021;
  • National Day of the Republic – June 2, 2021;
  • All Saints Day – November 1, 2021;
  • Christmas Day – December 25, 2021;
  • Santo Stefano – December 26, 2021.

In addition to national holidays, there is a particular day off – the day of the patron saint. It is different for each city or province. Sometimes there are one or two school days between holidays and vacations. In such cases, the school or education department can make a “bridge.” A day or two between vacations and holidays is a weekend for schoolchildren.
