UK school holidays 2022

In this publication, we’ll tell you about the UK school holidays 2022 in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. You’ll learn about the specifics of this system, why the dates differ, and how to find out the exact dates. We’ll also give you the dates for the ‘bank holidays’.

UK school holidays 2022

In the UK, the school year is divided into semesters. There are holidays in between, and an extra weekend in the middle of the term.  These are sometimes called holidays for simplicity. The spring break in the middle of the term is sometimes called the May holidays and the autumn holidays are the mid-term break in October.

Holidays in the UK are supposed to be subject to one schedule approved by the government. In reality, this is not the case. Each regional or local authority can change the dates at will.  This is especially true for private, charitable schools, lyceums, and academies.

For example, the summer holidays in England, at Barnet Borough, run from 25 July to 1 September 2022. And summer holidays in Scotland, in Midlothian county, begin on July, 1st and come to an end on August, 15th, 2022.

Here is a tentative timetable for school holidays in England in the 2022 school year:

As for the accuracy of the dates – they are advisory. Here’s what the Whitchurch Herald has to say on the subject:

These dates are to be used as a guideline only. Check specific dates with your local council or school as they can vary depending on region and educational establishment.

There are three ways to get more accurate information. You can follow this link: https://schoolholidays-uk.co.uk/school-holidays-2022/ to find the locality you are looking for. Listings and timetables for Spring, Easter, Summer, Autumn, and Christmas holidays in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are available in English.

The second option is to go to a special page on the official website of the United Kingdom. There you must enter the postcode of the locality. You will be given information about the 2022 school year and holidays in the UK. You can find out the postcode by the name of your locality on the Royal Mail website.

A third way to find out the UK school holiday timetable is to check with the school. This is the only way to obtain the full and correct information.

Important!

If you find the “exact” official UK school holidays and term dates – this information is untrue. They simply do not exist. Many schools do not follow an official timetable.
